Blazer Homeschool Academy is a unique educational model which combines the strength of a traditional Christian education with the flexibility of home schooling.
Blazer Homeschool Academy is located on the campus of Boca Raton Christian School at 470 NW 4th Ave., Boca Raton, FL 33432.
We offer kindergarten (five-year-old) through fourth grade.
We teach the core subjects of math, language arts, Bible, Latin, history, and science.
Students must be registered with the county as home educated. Parents are required to provide a notice of intent, maintain an annual portfolio, and provide an annual evaluation to their Florida county.
Each school day begins with a Bible story followed by Scripture memorization. In addition, we teach each subject from a Christian worldview. Children see God’s hand in math, in reading, and woven throughout the Latin, history and science texts and discussions.
Yes! We present Biblical events in historical perspective by building a timeline which correlates to information being taught in the history and reading curricula.
Each student uses Bob Jones University math curriculum as their main textbook. In addition, we play logic and other math games as a class to encourage mental math, mastery, and reasoning skills.
We follow an alternating three year cycle for history. The first year covers world history from creation to the fall of Rome; the second year focuses on world history of the Middle Ages; and the third year includes modern world history/United States studies.
Yes. The topics are the same, but the complexity and depth vary depending on the child’s age.
We use the Charlotte Mason style of “living books” in third and fourth grades which correlates to the history lessons. Biographies, historical fiction, and classical literature make history and reading come alive.
We use Progeny Press study guides and/or Total Language Plus Study Guides for reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and discussion of the literature from a Christian perspective. We also focus on character development as found in the various books.
The second through fourth graders learn grammar, copywork, and dictation using First Language Lessons.
We are using the PAL (Primary Arts of Language) Reading and Writing program for K5 through second grade. For the more advanced readers in K5 through second grade, we will supplement the phonics using Pathway Readers and comprehension workbooks.
Science follows a three year cycle using Apologia textbooks. The students use the Jr. Notebooking Journal from Apologia to further their mastery of the information.
The younger children are using Song School Latin which focuses on poetry and singing to introduce some basic Latin vocabulary. The older students are using Latina Christiana.
Latin provides a foundation for studying many other languages, it develops a love for the written word, it challenges the brain, and it allows young children to see the beauty and complexity of the Holy Bible.
No. We focus on the core subjects. There is not sufficient time in two days to cover every subject.

Children are responsible to bring a sack lunch as well as a snack.
Assignments are sent out as an email. Each week, we post what needs to be completed before the next class. We do the lesson planning for you!
We give grades if requested. We discuss this with the parent on an individual basis.
Yes. Children are asked to take a placement exam as part of the registration process. In addition, we review the portfolio and/or end-of-year testing in order to place your child in the grade/level that will be best for him/her.
