Current
research indicates that the use of technology impacts
learning in a positive way when it is integrated into
the various subject areas and not used in isolation.
We desire
that students:
- Demonstrate
proficiency in using technology
- Understand ethical issues related to
the use of technology
- Use technology tools to enhance learning
- Use a variety of media to
communicate information
and ideas.
- Use technology as a research tool
- Use technology as a problem-
solving tool
Grades K-5

Second grade students visit the computer lab to work on a HyperStudio presentation.
Teachers introduce
students to various forms of hardware and software as
it naturally applies to what they are learning. Classes
have access to the lab for whole group instruction or
use their classroom computers to carry out assigned tasks.
Grades 3 and 4
We believe that it is important that students learn
proper keyboarding techniques at an early age. Twice
a week, for one semester, third and fourth graders use
the program Beginning Touch Typing to build their skills.
Middle School
Middle school students
receive formal instruction in the computer center. They
are introduced to application
software (word processing, data base and spreadsheets);
they create multimedia presentations using HyperStudio;
they are trained in the proper use of the Internet.
Sixth graders
have an additional class each week in which they focus
on building their keyboarding and word processing skills.
Homeroom activities include using computers to build
thinking skills.

Seventh and eighth graders may also take a class in designing
